Qualified Supervisor Training
12 Hours

Any individual serving as a Qualified Supervisor for registered interns in Florida must have completed 12 hours of training in supervision as defined by Rule chapter 64B4, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) 

This 12-hour, continuing education course must meet the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling requirements to become a Qualified Supervisor for registered interns in the disciplines of social work, mental health counseling, and marriage and family therapy, pursuant to section 491.005, Florida Statute, and Rule 64B4-6.0025. During this course, participants will learn the major theoretical models of supervision, gain skills to develop a personal model of supervision, understand the co-evolving dynamics of the therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationships, and explore distinctive issues that arise in supervision. In addition, the participant will explore contextual variables in practice, become familiar with ethical, legal, and regulatory issues of supervision, review Florida laws and rules pertaining to supervision, and understand the role of evaluation. At the end of this training, participants will be able to develop a thorough and ethical supervision contract.

Qualified Supervisor Continuing Education
4 Hours 

A qualified supervisor will attain 4 hours of supervisory training continuing education. This course will review changes to Florida laws and rules relating to interns and supervisors; discuss electronic delivery systems for supervision and methods of ensuring confidentiality; discuss legal, ethical, and regulatory issues of supervision, including documentation of the supervisory sessions; review research of effective supervision models; review challenges in supervision; address how cultural issues can affect the supervisory relationship; discuss accountability of both the supervisor and the intern in the supervisory relationship; discuss the business aspects of supervision; and discuss the ethical, legal, and regulatory issues of psychotherapy.
